WOFEX 2012

So my Mom, her office mates and I attended the World Food Expo, which was held on August 1 to 4, at the World Trade Center and SMX Convention Center.  However, we only joined on August 2 and 4 because of time constraint and we had to go to some other places as well.

Now, to those of you who do not have any idea about WOFEX, then you can find information here:

Anyway, I will be showing you just a glimpse of what the event was all about--cooking demos, awesome products, free taste, cooking contests, freebies and a lot more.  This event is definitely a must-see for all foodies and cooking enthusiasts out there.  No doubt, I will be attending this event again next year. :)

This one is my favorite. The doll looks super real!

Chef Heny Sison and Joseph Yeo :)
The steak melted in my mouth. YUM!

French macaron--to die for!
And another one..:D
Chef Jill Sandique and Mr. Eddie Garcia

A BONUS for us!!

Here are some stuff we got from WOFEX 2012.  We bought most of these but some were giveaways! I just love freebies :)

Need I say more?  See you next year!!

Not Just a Cake Maker

After a long time of not blogging, my first decent post for this year is about bread.  LOL.  Well, I can't help myself.  This is truly an achievement for me. :)

I have always believed that one cannot be called a certified baker if he or she is not able to make breads (this is just my perception though).  And so, I challenged myself into baking 'ensaymada' from a random food magazine I bought.

I have baked a lot of cakes, cupcakes, brownies and other desserts but I have always wondered how bread is made and I haven't used yeast ever.  So, I was pretty curious.  I asked manang to buy me P5 worth of yeast and I grabbed the ingredients stored in my cupboard.  I mixed and I kneaded with all my strength and here are the end products of my effort :)

Sorry bout the not so clear pics.  I was too lazy to get the camera so I used the iPad 2 instead.  I even shared these pics on Instagram.  Yes, I am proud of this achievement.  I am not just a cake maker.  Woohoo!

Well, it was not easy at all.  This set of bread isn't even perfect but my family liked it (they will always be my loyal supporters). :-*

Anyway, I just wanted to share this new experience and I KNEADED to get the excitement out of my chest. (did you get the joke right there?) LOL.

I also learned how to check if yeast is active.  Here's what you have to do:
  1.  In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup warm (110-115 F) tap water, 1 teaspoon sugar and 2
       teaspoons yeast.
  2.  Stir and allow the mixture to stand for 10 minutes.
  3.  If the mixture foams and bubbles form, then the yeast is active.

It's 2012 and I'm back!

OMG!!It's 2012 and I have neglected this blog for over 3 months now.  I am so sorry.  I have been juggling work, my thesis and the wrath of "Sendong".  Anyway, I will be updating you guys very soon [I promise :)]

I will start posting again probably this week and I will share to you my baked creations during the holidays and the damage typhoon "Sendong" caused.  I still feel blessed for my family is intact.  We didn't have any major damage but the incident was very sad and traumatic.

Anyway, I hope you are all well and HAPPY LOVE MONTH!!:-*

P.S. I got braces now.  I will be posting about that too :)

Reconnecting with Nature Part 2

So this is the second part of our escapade. :D

We went to Mimbalot Falls for we wanted to try the zipline.  The said site is still under construction for it to be more beautiful and attractive to tourists.

This was my first time to be attached to some cable and cross one mountain to another, so yeah, I was pretty darn scared!!

still smiling :)

My hands were really cold at this time *gulps*

Can't go back now...

I'm flyyyyiiinnnnggg..:D

Our little "excursion" was a blast!  I was able to spend time with my good 'ol friends and I conquered my fear!
Oh yeah!!!

We ended our trip at Flamoo, the newest burger joint in town.  We ate their bestseller, the Thomas Aquinas burger, which consisted of 300g burger patties, pineapple, cheese, bacon and coleslaw..YUM!
